Volvo confirmed that it will enter their ethanol C30 racecar in the FIA World Touring Car Championship races in the UK at Brands Hatch next weekend.

The car will be entered on behalf of the manufacturer by the Polestar Racing team which is developing and running the same car in the Swedish Touring Car Championship.

Robert Dahlgren, former British Formula 3 race winner has been racing the ethanol-powered car in the Swedish Touring Car Championship this season and is looking forward to making a one-off WTCC appearance in
Britain.

During their current STCC season, Dahlgren and his ethanol-powered Volvo C30 have claimed three pole positions and he is lying 11th in the Drivers' Championship.

Volvo are keen to evaluate the car against WTCC opposition and motorsport director Derek Crabb says it was always in the plan to test the car in this arena.

The ethanol-powered C30 is the model that most clearly demonstrates Volvo's environmental technology on the market, with versions such as the Flexifuel and the upcoming 1.6D Efficiency. The Volvo 1.6D Efficiency has an average fuel consumption of 0.45 liters per 10 km (52 mpg-US/62 mpg-UK) and CO2 emissions under 120 grams per kilometer.

The Volvo team made a one-off appearance in last year's WTCC meeting at Anderstorp.

They also plan to enter two cars in Monza with Dahlgren and his STCC team-mate Tommy Rustad at the helm.
